As a Person Thinks...
Have you ever thought about what you're thinking about? Your thoughts could be keeping you from feeling motivated. It's written in the book of Proverbs, "As he thinks in his heart, so is he..." In other words, if you think you will never succeed, you will probably live up to your expectation. If you think you are just somebody who always fails, you need to change your thinking. There is more negative talk going on in our heads than we realize. If you can learn to recognize it, you can start to change it.
If you're thinking, "I never do anything right," make the change: "I've messed up before, but this will be different."
If you're thinking, "This is too difficult and I'm tired," make the change: "I'm going to accomplish this and feel all the better for it afterward."
If you're thinking, "What's the use? Why should I bother?" Make the change: "If I keep going, things are going to open up for me at some point."
Start seeing yourself as successful. If that's difficult for you to imagine, take it in small steps. Visualize success in little things and work your way up. Start thinking about what you're thinking about! Refuse to let the negative thoughts in. They'll always come knocking, but you don't have to open the door. Replace them with thoughts that will help.
If you have an undesirable task to perform, find something about it that makes it desirable.
