Discover Self Motivation for Work and Success

Motivation just makes things easier. When you're motivated, you're unstoppable. Without motivation, it's hard to get going. There are simple ways to discover self motivation for work and success. Whether you're in an office, behind a cash register, or creating websites from home, these simple precepts can keep you moving towards success.

As a Person Thinks...

Have you ever thought about what you're thinking about? Your thoughts could be keeping you from feeling motivated. It's written in the book of Proverbs, "As he thinks in his heart, so is he..."   In other words, if you think you will never succeed, you will probably live up to your expectation. If you think you are just somebody who always fails, you need to change your thinking. There is more negative talk going on in our heads than we realize. If you can learn to recognize it, you can start to change it.

If you're thinking, "I never do anything right," make the change: "I've messed up before, but this will be different."

If you're thinking, "This is too difficult and I'm tired," make the change: "I'm going to accomplish this and feel all the better for it afterward."

If you're thinking, "What's the use? Why should I bother?" Make the change: "If I keep going, things are going to open up for me at some point."

Start seeing yourself as successful. If that's difficult for you to imagine, take it in small steps. Visualize success in little things and work your way up. Start thinking about what you're thinking about! Refuse to let the negative thoughts in. They'll always come knocking, but you don't have to open the door. Replace them with thoughts that will help.

If you have an undesirable task to perform, find something about it that makes it desirable.

How to Improve Time Management

It's not about your ability, it's about the system you use. Anyone can learn how to improve time management and keep appointments. You don't have to have a special knack for organization. You just need to learn how to use a better system than what you're working with now.

“I'm so busy!”

So many people say this, and sometimes I think it's something of a boast. To be busy is to feel important, or at least it keeps one from thinking they are unimportant! There are others, however, who wish they weren't so busy. When I lived in China, a Chinese friend once told me he couldn’t keep his time and appointments organized. I shared with him what I thought was just common sense, but he received it as if it was amazing revelation!

I was actually applying these principles in a corporate office where I worked before coming to China. They eventually held a seminar for us and taught us the things I was already more or less doing. So maybe it can help you…
